3. Hot peppers

   Taste and smell of capsaicin inside the hot peppers can help to keep squirrels out of your garden. You can use it by sprinkling hot sauce, chili pepper flakes or cayenne pepper on the soil. You can also plant the peppers in your garden so the squirrels would not touch your plants.

4. Peppermint oil

   The peppermint oil cannot harm the squirrels or plants but it will help to repel them away from the garden. You can try to sprinkle some peppermint oil into the soil or the leaves of the plants. You can also mix it into petroleum jelly then apply it into your plant’s stalks.

5. ACV

   You can make your own repellent using ACV as the base. Get a spray bottle then put in the ACV together with cayenne pepper or peppermint oil. Then you can use the spray around your plants to keep the squirrels away.

6. Use motion activated sprinklers

   You should use motion activated sprinkles around your garden which will startle the squirrel when they get too near. After they get sprinkled a few times then they will most likely keep squirrels out of your garden.

7. Put decoy

   You can use rubber snakes or resin owls around your garden which will scare away the squirrels. You need to move their position every day then add a noisemaker so the decoy will look real.

8. Repellent spray

   You can find a lot of repellent sprays sold in the gardening store or home improvement store. They are made using the squirrel’s natural predators’ urine such as fox, owl, snake, raccoon, weasel, hawk, and others. Then you need to use the spray regularly around your garden to repel the squirrels.

9. Clean your garden

   It is important to keep your garden clean by removing all of the trash. You should also make sure that the trash cans have a tight lid so the squirrels cannot enter it. You should not leave any food around and exposed since the smell can attract squirrels to come. Then they might hunt food nearby which most likely comes from your garden.

10. Use different seeds

    If you have bird feeders do not use sunflower seeds since the squirrels love them. Instead use safflower seeds which the squirrels hate.
